What jobs can I do with an SIA Door Supervisor Licence?

Once you are qualified and have received your licence issued by the SIA, you can then work in a number of security roles, static guarding, manned guarding, key holding to name a few. These security roles can be in a wide range of industries which include construction sites, schools and colleges to bars, clubs and event security.

The role of the door supervisor is to control admission to licensed premises and to ensure that customers are safe. Door supervisors need to be able to control the door, manage conflict situations, document incidents, prevent drug use and assist the management in ensuring the premises are run lawfully and responsibly.

Should I do a Door Supervisor or Security Officer training course?

It’s important to note the difference between Door Supervisors and Security Officer licences. Security Officers cannot work as Door Supervisors. However, Door Supervisors can work as Security Officers.

The training courses are similar but Door Supervisor training is two days longer due to the physical intervention module. Qualified Door Supervisors can legally work in all the same roles as security guards in addition, they can also work in licensed premises such as bars, clubs, events and festivals, which Security Officers may not be able to work in if alcohol is being served.

A Door Supervisor qualification will enable candidates to perform a far wider variety of roles and will greatly increase their chances of finding employment.
