Why has the online top-up training been replaced?
The SIA have stated the new refresher courses will be replacing the online and in-person top-up training courses in order to provide a more comprehensive, practical and relevant approach to renewing your licence.
Can I do the Security Officer Refresher training online?
No, the SIA have not released an online training option because the Security Officer refresher training has more practical elements that are needed to do in person. We have a dedicated training centre in Middlesbrough with a fantastic team of tutors.

About the Discontinued Online SIA Security Officer Top-Up Training Course
The Level 2 Award for upskilling a Security Officer working within the private security industry was a mandatory qualification for those seeking to renew their SIA Security Officer Licence. The online virtual course used to be completed in one day from home.
The changes introduced to SIA Licensing in April 2021 became a central part of daily life for security professionals. Licensed security professionals were required to take Top-Up training to make sure they have this knowledge when renewing their SIA licence.
Mastering those new skills meant Security Officers were able to better protect the public, property, and themselves.
