Why was Security Officer Top Up training replaced?

The SIA have stated there was a need to update the course content to keep the public safe, follow new working practices and understand recent changes to the law.

Discontinued SIA Security Officer Top-up Training

The Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry was a mandatory requirement for those who held a SIA Security Officer licence and needed to renew it.

Completing this qualification enabled eligible Security Officers to apply to renew their SIA licence and continue working legally in the private security industry.

You were eligible to take this course if:

  • Held SIA Security Officer Licence due for renewal
  • Acquired your Security Officer qualification before June 2010
