The Door Supervisor Refresher training is designed for those who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a Door Supervisor and need to be brought up to speed with the new licence-linked qualification requirements.

• Terror threats and the role of the security operative in the face of a threat
• Actions to take in relation to critical (or global) incidents
• Physical interventions and the implications of their use
• How to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention

• Factors that can make someone vulnerable
• Understanding a security operatives’ duty of care with regards to vulnerable people
• Safeguarding techniques in relation to spiking

Should I do a refresher course or top up training course?

We advise you check your SIA account, when you reapply for your licence, it will say what type of training you require.

The new refresher training will eventually take the place of the current top up qualifications for door supervisor and security officers. The current Door Supervisor Top Up training will be withdrawn as a qualification from 31st January 2025. The final certification date for the top ups will be 20th April 2025. This means that learners can still undertake top up resit assessments until 20th April 2025.

Do I need to have emergency first aid training at work training before undertaking refresher training?

No, you will complete Level 3 Emergency First Aid training on the first day of the Door Supervisor Refresher course.

How long does the training take to complete?

The Door Supervisor Refresher training is three days, 8.30am – 5pm each day. You must have full attendance in order to gain your certification.

How early can I renew my SIA licence?

You can renew your SIA licence upto 4 months before the expiry date. Any remaining months on your licence will be automatically transferred to your new licence.
