The Security Officer Refresher Training is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the SIA to work as a Security Officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements. We’re running Security Officer Refresher courses every month from our Training Centre in central Middlesbrough.

- Terror threats and the roles of the security operative in the event of a threat
- Minimising risk to personal safety
- Actions to take in relation to global or critical incidents
- How to conduct effective search procedures
- Factors that can make someone vunerable
- Understanding a security operatives’ duty of care with regard to vulnerable people

We’re running our first Security Officer Refresher course on Tuesday 3rd December from our Training Centre in central Middlesbrough.

Should I do a refresher course or top up training course?
We advise you check your SIA account and when you reapply for your licence, it will say what type of training you require.
The new refresher training will eventually take the place of the current top up qualifications for door supervison and security officers. The current top up will be withdrawn as a qualification from 31st January 2025. The final certification date for the top ups will be 20th April 2025. This means that learners can still undertake top up resit assessments until 20th April 2025.

Do I need to have emergency first aid training at work training before undertaking refresher training?
No, you will complete Level 3 Emergency First Aid training on the first day of the Security Officer Refresher course.
How long does the Security Officer Refresher training take to complete?
The course is two days, 8.30am – 5pm each day. You must have full attendance in order to gain your Security Officer Refresher certification.
